by The Challenge: The Cave Cafe is a food truck offering a unique blend of Ethiopian and Italian dishes. They are seeking to open a sit-down restaurant, and need an awesome new logo, as well as a fantastic menu.
I based the logo concept on a religious fractal design found in northeast Africa, the home of Cave Cafe’s signature Afro-Italian cuisine. The warm color palette reflects the earthy tones of the food, and the typography captures the dualism of African and Italian culture.
Using the fractal design from the logo, I used different thicknesses of the strokes to add a layered design. Then I laser-cut the layers, giving the menu cover a dimensional quality and a tactile experience. (This is really cool in-person; interview me, and you can check it out!)
